FIFI hosted a conclave during 5th Edition of Food & Grocery Forum held during 27-28th March 2012 at Mumbai. Members discussed the possibilities of opening Indian borders for trading food products, and thereby, providing a richer experience to consumers. They highlighted trends with respect to consumption, challenges and issues within this category.
An interactive session between food importers and FSSAI Deputy Director AIS Kumar saw discussions on the new food safety regulations and FBO registrations with the importers and retailers of imported food. Kumar reassured the assembled audience that all problems of the food importers and retailers would be taken care of by the government in due course of time with regard to license issuance, permits, etc.
